About Dr. Suzanne O'Sullivan

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

MB, BCh, BAO. MD. FRCOG, FRCPI 

After graduating from UCD, she trained in the Mater and National Maternity hospitals in Dublin before spending 5 further years training in the UK in units including Addenbrooke’s in Cambridge and the Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. Her first consultant role in 2002 in the Royal Bournemouth University Hospital UK, involved the establishment of a new Urogynaecology department, before she was appointed to Cork University Maternity Services and the Bon Secours Hospital Cork, in 2006.

She is known and respected internationally and has published and presented her work abroad. She was elected to the Council of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK and was President of the Continence Foundation of Ireland 2014 to 2018, and led the development of national clinical guidelines in Urogynaecology with the National Womens and Infants health Programme (NWIHP) where she sits on the Clinical Advisory Group. She is the senior author of National Clinical Practice Guideline Assessment and Management of Stress Urinary Incontinence in Women (Download PDF)  She is the Clinical lead of the National Mesh Complication Service Cork, one of only two in the country.

She has a long track record of advocacy and leadership roles in women’s health and is the current Chair of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of the Royal College of Physisicans of Ireland (RCPI).

Her interest in postgraduate specialist training in the interest of both patients and doctors alike, drew her to the RCPI where she has been at the forefront of postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for 15 years, and has been the National Director of Training with the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for the last five years.
